Coronary artery thrombosis associated with evolving transmural myocardial infarction :
Within 6 hours after the onset of symptoms as IV.
Loading Dose : 4,400 IU per kg of body wt.
Maintenance Dose : 4,400 IU/kg/hour reconstituted
in 200 ml of sterile physiological saline of 6-12 hrs.
Intracoronary Administration : Infusion at a rate of 6000 I.U. /min. (Max. dose =
10,000 I.U. /Kg of body weight).
Pulmonary Embolism DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis & Peripheral Vascular Thrombo-embolism :
Loading Dose : 4,400 IU per kg of body wt.
reconstituted in 15 ml of dextrose IV over 10 min.
Maintenance Dose : 4,400 IU/kg/hour reconstituted
in 200 ml of sterile physiological saline of 8-12 hrs.
The total duration of the treatment usually lasts 6 to 13 days.
Anticoagulant Therapy :
Following treatment with urokinase, anticoagulants (Heparin) are recommended to prevent or minimize the follow-up thrombosis. |
